Dr Kim and the team at Pitt Street Dental Centre look after Sydney CBD patients at every stage of their oral health journey, including those who have been away from the chair for a long time. Our patient Tim is a good example. He had not been to the dentist in a few years, and his recent appointment with Dr Kim was all about getting him comfortably back into a routine of regular general dentistry care.
What A Reset Appointment Looks Like
When it has been a while between visits, your first appointment is a little more comprehensive than a standard six-monthly check.
Thorough Check-Up
Dr Kim assesses your teeth, gums, and bite carefully, looking for any signs of decay, gum disease, or wear that may have developed over the years. Catching issues now often means simpler care, such as a tooth filling, rather than more involved treatment later on.
X-Rays Where Indicated
X-rays are taken where clinically appropriate to see what is happening between teeth and below the gum line. This gives us a complete picture, not just what is visible on the surface.
Airflow Clean
A thorough Airflow clean follows, gently removing plaque and calculus that has built up over time. The technique uses warm water and a fine powder spray, and is comfortable even for patients who feel sensitive at the gum line. It is part of our routine dental hygiene appointments.
Back Into Routine Care
After your reset appointment, most patients move into a simple six-monthly recall pattern. From there, visits are shorter, easier, and far more predictable.
