Migraines & Body Pains In Women Linked To Oral Health Issues

“Findings from research conducted by the University of Sydney suggest a possible relationship between oral microbiome and nervous system. New research from the University of Sydney has revealed poor oral health is significantly associated with higher instances of migraines, abdominal and body pain in women.”

Chronic Debilitating Pain May Be Traced To Oral Health Problems
People who experience prolonged pain and chronic health disorders suffer terribly and, often, cannot be cured by the available treatments offered by modern medicine. Migraines and a variety of body pains can be included in these chronic conditions not responding to medications for some. For decades many GPs and specialists have scratched their heads in trying to help these folk who suffer from these painful issues. Any light at the end of the tunnel will be greatly appreciated if it proves to be beneficial knowledge. For too long, a lot of this has been grouped as women’s issues and there may have even been left over prejudices from the bad old days of ‘hysteria’ and the female problem.
“These gender biases in our medical system can have serious and sometimes fatal repercussions. For instance, a 2000 study published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that women are seven times more likely than men to be misdiagnosed and discharged in the middle of having a heart attack. “

“In a survey of more than 1,750 women in Victoria, 40% of participants reported living with chronic pain. Yet, women are less likely to receive treatment. “

Female Pain Could Be Linked To Oral Microbiome
The microbiome, wherever it is found in us, has opened up, not a can of worms but billions of bacterium, and science is finding new and strange ramifications for our health and wellbeing. Rather than these microbes and microorganisms being exclusively viewed in the negative our holistic relationship with them is opening doors of perception to new truths. The complementary nature of our relationship tells us that we are never truly alone and our physiological reality is dependent upon functions provided by our microbiome. Community is the name of the game and not solo individuality. There is a far bigger lesson to be learned about life.
“Community is the name of the game!”

“New research from the University of Sydney has revealed poor oral health is significantly associated with higher instances of migraines, abdominal and body pain in women. Published in Frontiers in Pain Research, the world-first study identified specific oral microbes correlated with certain pain conditions, suggesting a potential relationship between the oral microbiome and the nervous system. The findings highlight the importance of good oral health to potentially mitigate pain and improve overall wellbeing, prompting further exploration into the role of oral microbiota in chronic unexplained pain conditions. This includes fibromyalgia, a condition experienced by 67 percent of the study participants.”

What is going on with our oral microbiome, in this instance, its makeup and what these bacterium are feeding on can cast an enlightening light upon likely malefic manifestations like migraine and body pain. As a general trend occurring right now, medical science is revealing the importance of our oral health to our overall wellbeing. The interconnectedness between our oral cavity, and what goes on in there, and a vast array of diseases and medical conditions has been exposed of late by researchers. It is an exciting time to be a medical researcher delving into oral health.
“Four oral microbial species from the Dialister, Fusobacterium, Parvimonas and Solobacterium genera were significantly associated with pain after age, BMI and added dietary sugars were considered. “

Microbiome & Your Diet
The lessons from our microbiome, so far, on a dietary level is that an awareness of what we feed them, via what we eat, can impact upon our physical and mental health. Many modern diets are poor in terms of containing the things that our bodies and microbiome colonies require for optimal living. Processed foods and complex carbohydrates in excess and unbalanced by the omission of whole foods like green leafy vegetables and legumes are making us look and feel unhealthy. Convenience is literally killing us in so many ways. Outsourcing the creation and care of your dietary input is a very bad idea for most of us in the modern world. Fast foods full of refined sugars, fat and salt are deadly, eventually. Eating stuff, that you don’t really know what is in it, is a very bad idea, especially long term. Most folk know that refined sugars are bad for your oral health and for some of us starchy foods are, also, similarly a problem for our teeth and gum health. If we eat poor diets, we end up paying the price via our health; and this can manifest in a lot of different ways depending upon the individual.
“Convenience is literally killing us!”
Eating on the run and not paying sufficient attention to the dietary nature of what you eat will cause you physical and mental problems in some form or another, eventually.
Will Women’s Health Issues Be Better Acknowledged & Confirmed By The Patriarchal Medical Establishment?
A lot of women are sick of being tacitly accused of making stuff up about the chronic pain they experience and by default malingering at work. Most doctors and medical scientists are male. The institutions that train them are mainly run by men. Gender equity has hardly been scratched in many instances. The Liberal Party has finally elected its first federal leader and it only took 81 years. The Catholic Church is not electing a female Pope any time soon and they have been around for millennia. We like to gloss over these things, especially at the heart of where power resides within our communities and institutions, but things have not changed enough in many instances. Until it does the intrinsic differences between the sexes and what that means for their lives will not be properly acknowledged. Ignorance allows for prejudicial attitudes to flourish, even in medical science.
