Hi, Dr. Michael Cai here from Pitt Street Dental Centre in Sydney CBD.
Did you know a lot of people grind their teeth without even realising it, especially at night? This condition is called bruxism, and it’s an involuntary habit of grinding or clenching your teeth, often while you sleep.
So, how do you know if you have it? The symptoms can range from jaw soreness, tension headaches, and worn-down teeth to even clicking or popping in your jaw joint. But here’s the tricky part: many people don’t feel any pain at all, which means the damage could be happening without you noticing.
At our practice, we use digital scans to track changes in your teeth over time. By comparing your scans at each visit, we can see if there’s excessive wear or loss of enamel, which tells us if you’re grinding your teeth at night. If we spot signs of bruxism, we’ll discuss treatment options like custom night guards or muscle relaxation techniques to protect your teeth and jaw.
So, if you’ve been waking up with jaw pain or tightness, or continuous migrants, let’s have a chat about it.
Simply DM us or give us a call to organise your consultation. See you in the next video!
