Restorative Dentistry Sydney
Teeth are important for more than smiling. They help us talk, eat and enjoy life more, but damaged teeth can cause pain and interfere with overall health. Our team here at Pitt Street Dental Centre in Sydney provides restorative dentistry to patients who want healthy teeth that function and feel great.
What is Restorative Dentistry?
This branch of dentistry deals with dental solutions that either repair damaged teeth or replace missing teeth. Our philosophy is that it’s better to save teeth because your natural teeth aid in speech, help you chew food for healthy digestion and preserves your facial structure to prevent the hollow look that can happen when teeth go missing.
Our variety of services help us treat a wide range of dental concerns. We customise treatments to match patient needs as well as desires, therefore many patients use restorative dentistry as a time to upgrade or improve their smile, too.
Restorative Dentistry Services at Pitt Street Dental Centre
These are the restorative dentistry services we offer at Pitt Street Dental Centre in Sydney:
Tooth Fillings are used to fill cavities or holes in teeth due to decay. We offer different types of fillings including those made with composite resin to match the look of your teeth, as well as inlays and onlays when you need more protection for a larger filling. Taking care of cavities while they are small helps prevent the need for future treatments like root canal treatment or replacing a missing tooth.
Dental Crowns are much like a helmet or cap for a tooth. A crown is custom created specifically for your tooth to match the shape and colour and used to cover or protect teeth that have been broken or cracked. They are also used to cover and protect a molar that has undergone root canal therapy. Once complete, a dental crown looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth.
Dental CEREC Crowns are dental crowns that you can get in just one visit. Instead of waiting for a week or two, which is how long a common restoration takes, a CEREC crown will be created right in our lab while you wait, then placed onto your tooth. These are made from a single block of porcelain, which provides strength and durability so you don’t lose quality with the shorter treatment time.
Dental Bridge is a prosthetic that is used to replace a missing tooth or missing teeth. Different types of dental bridges are available to suit the specific needs of the patient such as the location of the missing teeth or number of teeth to be replaced.
Dental implants are the permanent solution to replace missing teeth. Instead of using a bridge, the implant replaces the tooth root and a dental crown sits on the implant to act as your natural tooth. Dental implants can help stop bone shrinkage that can age your facial structure and can be cleaned and brushed just like your natural teeth.
Sleep Dentistry is a service we provide to help patients who are anxious or require complex dental treatments. There are different forms of sleep dentistry such as nitrous oxide, twilight sedation and general anaesthetic. With nitrous oxide and twilight sedation, you will not be completely asleep, but will be in a deep state of relaxation, making the treatment a lot more comfortable.
