What Happens at Your Initial Consultation?

People Asked:
How long does the first consultation take?

The first consultation will usually take 45 minutes to an hour.

Hi, I’m Dr Michael Cai, the principal dentist of Pitt St Dental Centre here in Sydney CBD.

In this video, I will walk you through the initial consultation process here at Pitt Street Dental Centre.

First, you’d be welcomed by our lovely reception team. You can relax in our spa-like waiting area.

Soon we’ll come and greet you, and invite you to the consultation room, where we will spend the time to learn about your concerns, as well as what you want to achieve with your smile. We’ll also go into detail about your medical history and dental experiences, especially if you have dental anxiety.

Then we will get you onto the dental chair and look inside your mouth. We’ll possibly take some photos and x-rays. Depending on the treatment you are after, we’ll do a 3D intraoral scan.

Then we will take you back to the consultation room to go through the diagnosis, discuss what the plans are, what the risks are, how much it’s going to cost, and how long it takes to finish the treatment. We’ll give you all the options, followed by a written plan. So you know exactly what’s going on.

Unless emergency treatment is required, we don’t do any treatment on the first day.

When you are ready to move forward, we will schedule the next appointment for the treatment.

As you can see, it is a very simple and transparent process. You are always in control, and you will have all the options to help you make an informed decision.

So if you like the sound of our approach, we would love to take care of you and your family.

Simply call us on +61 2 8000 1832, complete the form on our website, or send us a DM on social media, and we’ll help you organise a smile consultation. See you in the next video.
