Hi, Dr. Michael Cai here from Pitt Street Dental Centre in Sydney CBD.
If you are bothered by the fact that you show more gums than teeth when you smile, you may or may not have heard of laser gum contouring. We had cosmetic patients who were interested in this treatment, and asked me, “Hey Michael, is laser gum contouring painful?”
Let me answer it in this video.
The good news is that laser gum contouring is the least invasive way to reshape your gum line.
You see, laser technology works by using energy at a specific wavelength to gently remove excess gum tissue, without the need for scalpels or sutures. Now, I know the idea of melting away tissue might sound intense, but with a bit of local anaesthetic, you won’t feel a thing.
Now, one of the biggest advantages of laser treatment is minimal downtime. Most of our patients go straight back to their usual routine, and it’s incredibly rare for anyone to even need pain relief afterwards.
Compared to traditional gum surgery, it’s faster, cleaner, and far more comfortable.
So, if you have a gummy smile, and are thinking about refining your gum line for a more balanced, natural smile, we would love to help!
